Seren did it!
Well, what we can we say? Seren walked all the way around the Marford circuit without being carried once. Da iawn Seren! Well done! We learned lots about the site too, reading signs along the route, had a lovely picnic with other friends on the walk, had fun looking for the hare signs and hunting for creatures on the Spotters postcards, and all in all had a very enjoyable day. We also found a lovely little coppery beetle, LOTS of ladybirds in the leaves, bees, heard a woodpecker and chiffchaffs and lots of other birds in the treetops, saw 2 butterflies in the distance - possibly Tortoiseshell, found 2 birds eggshells - one green, one blue (perhaps Blackbird), saw violets, cherry blossom, celandines, orchid leaves, some tiny little pink flowers, we noticed ash and oak leaves coming out together (lets hope for a splash not a soak), and smelt lots of coconut scent from the abundance of Gorse. We really had a great time Springing into Action, and raised £174 along the way to help North Wales Wildlife Trust look after the nature all around us.

Dare I mention the "S" word?

It is Thursday and not long at all now to go and my weather worries are starting to fade ... at the beginning of the week I looked at the weather forecast and there was sleet predicted (yes, really!) but hurray, now I see sunshine forecast (shhhh!) at the dear old BBC weather forecast. So, there is no excuse for staying in bed at the weekend. Come and join us.

Well, what did we see ... a beautiful hillside of Welsh wild daffodils. We walked about one mile and a half on rugged terrain and up and down steep hillsides. Needless to say Seren did not manage the whole walk and I had to carry her part of the way but I keep telling myself that Marford is on gentle smooth sandy soils with gradual hills and we have got all day ... will we make it?

Only a week to go and glorious sunshine today. Hurrah we have reached our sponsorship target but please don’t let that stop you from adding some more! In yesterday’s training we saw a hare, tortoiseshell and peacock butterflies, a jay, song thrush, pied wagtail and heard lots of birds up in the trees and saw tadpoles hatching. Seren and I are off for another training walk now – what will we see today?

Blogs away ..

The countdown tells me that there are only 44 days to go until we get springing. I think it's time to get Seren into training for her 1 mile March at Marford, and not even aged 2 yet. If you want to show your support you'll soon be able to find her at Justgiving. So come on, you can't be outdone by a not even 2 year old ... join us and get ready to Spring into Action!
